Indications
Iodine compounds: they act by oxidising the enzymes of pathogens; they penetrate the pathogen easily and oxidise its proteins and enzymes, thereby killing it. They are lethal to most types of pathogens and can be used in the presence of fats and dirt, i.e. they remain effective in the presence of fats, and they work more efficiently in an acidic medium. They are used for the disinfection of feeders, drinkers and poultry battery cages, as well as eggshells, and also at a low concentration of 25 ppm for the disinfection of drinking water. The action of iodine is weakened in the presence of organic matter, and it is able to kill encysted pathogens.
