Indications
Anti-inflammatory used in: Cattle: for the treatment of ketosis and as supportive therapy for rheumatism, allergy, skin diseases, mastitis, metritis, pyelonephritis, shipping fever, pneumonia and retained placenta. It also relieves the stress accompanying diseases and improves the general condition of the animal. Horses: inflammation of the skeletal muscles such as inflammation of the joints, tendons and bursae, and as supportive therapy in cases of stress, influenza, retained placenta and laminitis. Cats and dogs: anti-inflammatory and supportive therapy for allergy.
Dose and administration
Administration: Horses: intramuscular, intravenous or intra-articular injection; cattle, dogs and cats: intramuscular injection. Horses and cattle: 0.06 mg dexamethasone/1 kg body weight, equivalent to 1.5 ml of the product/50 kg. Dogs and cats: 0.1 mg dexamethasone/1 kg body weight, equivalent to 0.5 ml of the product/10 kg. Ketosis in cattle: by intramuscular injection, 0.02 to 0.04 mg dexamethasone/kg body weight, equivalent to 5–10 ml of the product per 500 kg body weight. A larger dose at a rate of 1.5 ml of the product/50 kg may be given if the symptoms do not disappear. Calves and foals: 1–5 ml (maximum 0.1 ml dexamethasone/kg body weight). Cases of arthritis, bursitis or tenosynovitis in horses: by intra-articular injection at a dose of 1–5 ml of the product. A volume of synovial fluid equal to the volume of medicine injected must be removed.
